Hummus is a staple in every Middle Eastern meal. While store-bought hummus is good, nothing compares to homemade! Enjoy this delightful dish as a snack, alongside sliced peppers, cucumbers, or pita!
Ingredients
1 Can of Chickpeas
½ tsp of baking soda
¼ cup lemon juice
1 garlic clove, minced
½ cup tehini
2 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp cumin
2-3 tbsp water (as needed)
Dash of paprika
Salt to taste
Instructions
In the bowl of a food processor combine the lemon juice, tehini, and baking soda. Process for 1 minute, stir, then process for another 30 seconds.
Add the oil, garlic, cumin, and salt. Process for 30 seconds, stir, then process for 30 more seconds.
Drain and rinse the chickpeas. Add half the chickpeas to the food processor and process for 1 minute. Stir and then add the remaining chickpeas, process another 1-2 minutes.
If the hummus is too thick, add water and mix again.
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle paprika on before serving.
